The Reston store from the owner of OmMade Peanut Butter provides carefully selected CBD products to help customers relieve pain, sleep better, and think more clearly.
Radhika Murari, a longtime Reston resident and the founder of OmMade Peanut Butter, has launched a business selling CBD products in Reston’s Lake Anne Plaza. Her CBD boutique, OmBaked, offers CBD tinctures, supplements, lotions, and more, all aimed at promoting holistic wellness.
OmBaked opened its doors in Reston in May. A ribbon-cutting ceremony followed on Wednesday to celebrate the new store.
Murari says that she was inspired to open the business when she noticed a worrisome lack of regulation and information surrounding the retail CBD market. She wanted to find a way to offer customers the benefits of CBD in an environment they could trust.
“[Our clients] understand that CBD can have a lot of benefits,” Murari says. “They’re just looking for a place where they can walk in and feel comfortable that they’ll walk out with something that might help them.”
She vets each of the store’s products, seeking guidance from the Virginia branch of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws and asking members of the Reston community to test products before she puts them on the shelves.
OmBaked’s products target a range of issues. The store is organized into categories to help people relieve pain, relieve stress, sleep better, and focus, plus a section with products for pets.
And these come in many forms. There are edible products like gummies, tinctures, coffee and tea, and seltzers that are infused with CBD, as well as bath and body items like lotions, lip balms, and bath bombs. The store does not carry any smoking or vaping products.
“I am from India, and we believe not only in Western medicine — which is of course, irreplaceable — but we also believe in using more natural remedies to solve some problems,” Murari says. “The CBD boutique kind of comes out of that thought of exploring less traditional ways of promoting wellness.”
In creating this business, Murari used her experience as founder of OmMade Peanut Butter, which sells gourmet peanut butter, made from Virginia peanuts, in flavors like chai, espresso, and turmeric. OmMade started in 2017 and is now sold online and in Whole Foods stores around the DC area.
“I took that experience and applied a lot of the same philosophy of quality standards, beautiful design, very well-informed sales associates, and I implemented it at OmBaked,” she says.
